This Week's Zinnia Bouquet
How are you? How was your week and weekend? Did you have a nice Independence Day?
I had a nice one here! I was invited to Patrick and Amber's for lunch, then, went with them, along with Tony and Nicole and their family, to the big shabang at Rich Hill.
Rich Hill is famous (literally) for their annual, days-long 4th of July celebration! It's always fun and their fireworks display never disappoints!
I've been to fireworks displays all over the area and none of them have ever even come close to the grandure of the display that Rich Hill puts on each year! It's amazing!
(I love small town America!!!) 💓⭐💙
Other than that, the rest of the week pretty much revolved around work. Oh! And birthdays! I have a grandson and two granddaughters that celebrated birthdays this week! 🎂

Today marks the two-year anniversary of my husband's death.
My Darling J.K.!
Eterni il giorno...yours always...forever and a day!
I'm extremely thankful for the love, marriage, family, and wonderful memories that John and I shared over the course of a lifetime...33 years of marriage and 55 years of friendship...but I have come to the realization that I can no longer remain drowning in grief and sorrow. Mentally, emotionally, spiritually...it's not good for me...and I don't believe for one moment that that's the way John, nor God Himself, would want me to live.
From this day forward, I choose to put grief and sorrow behind me and embrace this new season of life that God has me it. It's time to move forward, live the life that He's given me to live, and enjoy each new day as it comes! Life is too precious and too short to waste! It's time to start living it again!
It's also time to get on with this post and get it posted before the day is over! Let's get started...shall we?
This week's master to-do list...
- Clean house
- Do laundry
- Work (includes presenting a library program on Tuesday and finishing up prepararations for Friday's "Civil War on the Border" daycamp)
- Enjoy a short visit with Amanda and Aaron and the girls
This week's menu plan...
...is going to be all about using up fresh vegetables from the garden.
First Margarita Pizza of the Year
- Turkey burger with baked sweet potato, sauteed greens, and coleslaw
- Bacon and lettuce sandwich with potato wedges and coleslaw
- Turkey burger with cheesy sauteed vegetables and corn-on-the-cob
- Homemade margarita pizza (freezer)
- Turkey Italian sausage with fried cabbage, baked potato, and corn-on-the-cob

Well, that's it for today! I hope that your Monday is going well and that your week is off to a great start!
Until next time...

Hello! Thank you for the pizza recipe! It looks delicious! And prayers for you as you begin this next chapter of your life. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Billie Jo! The Margarita pizza is one of my summer favorites! I enjoy it even more by sprinkling a little parmasean cheese and red pepper flakes on top! Thanks for the prayers! Much needed and appreciated! Blessings! <3
DeleteSpecial hug my friend. I remember when you lost your husband and now I am on the 7th month of losing mine. So hard.
ReplyDeleteThank you! (((HUGS))) to you, too. It is hard...a very hard place to be in, for sure...but God is faithful. Continued thoughts and prayers are headed your way. Feel free to email or message me anytime. Blessings! <3
DeleteWhat pretty zinnias! Kids love those glow sticks and jewelry, plus fireworks, huh? Have you seen the new light shows they're doing with drones? I follow a US company on TikTok that puts on these shows, absolutely spectacular!! Grief takes time and no one can tell you how long, some folks get thru it easier than others. And, true, I'm sure your husband wouldn't want you to go on grieving, he'd want to live the best you can. Thanks so much for linking up at the #UnlimitedLinkParty 119. Pinned.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dee! I do love my zinnias! Craziest thing though...and I'm guessing it's because of the extreme drought that we're in...but the grasshoppers are eating the head clear off of my flowers! I've never seen anything like it and I'm not happy with them! I have NOT seen the drone shows! Never even heard of them! Wow! And, yes, I agree...grief takes time. I had a friend that has always stressed...grieve and grieve well. I feel that I have. Thanks for stopping in! Blessings for a great rest of the week! (We're halfway through!) ;)
DeleteSending you a big hug my dear! Your zinnias are gorgeous, mine are just starting. Your meal plan sounds good, and that pizza! I've got basil growing and tomatoes that will soon ripen on the vine. Sounds like a good start! Hope we can make arrangements to see each other soon. Your distant friend, Laura who still sees Nurse Laura nearly every week to knit!
ReplyDeleteHey, Laura! Good to hear from you! A big (((HUG))) right back to you, my friend! The zinnias are among my summer favorites, but, like I just shared with Dee above...for some reason the grasshoppers are eating the heads clean off! I've never had that happen before and I don't know that I can stop them. The Margarita pizza is another of my summer favorites. I enjoy it even more by sprinkling it with parmasean cheese and a little red pepper. So good! As of next week I should be back on my regular schedule at work (I'm so glad!), so, yes, we need to set a date to get together! Give Nurse Laura my love! I will never forget our special time together! Blessigns! <3
