Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - April 24, 2023

It's a sunny, but cool morning here in southwest Missouri (37 degrees). According to the local forecast, we can expect abnormally low temperatures and rain almost every day this week. We've had frost warnings the past two nights and I guess I totally missed the auroras in our area last night. I had no idea that they would be this far south. (Saw them once in northern Minnesota. Beautiful!)

Can you believe that we are in the last week of April. How was your week and weekend?

Indian Paintbrush Blooming on the Prairie

My week and weekend here were good. I worked Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. We had school groups Wednesday and Friday with a total of 168 students.

School Groups This Week

Thursday was spent cleaning house, doing laundry, and working around the place. I managed to sort through several more boxes from the shed this week, too. This is stuff that we moved down with us from Blue Springs over a quarter-of-a-century ago. Ridiculous!!! 🙄

The Hope Chest That My Parents
Gave Me For My 13th Birthday

Among things brought out was the hope chest that my parents gave me for my 13th birthday. It was in pretty rough shape, but Tony took it over to his place, sanded it down, repaired it, restained, and revarnished it. It's as pretty now as it ever was!

Other than that, that's pretty much it. Let's get started on this week's post...shall we?

Eastern Meadowlark

This week's master to-do list...

- Clean house
- Clean the fridge
- Do laundry
- Mow (Actually, son and grandsons have been taking care of this for me and I appreciate it! They do let me help with the weed-eating though...some anyway.) 😏
- Sort through more boxes from the shed
- Make a trip to the vet to pick up flea pills for the cats
- Pick up a few groceries
- Check out the local greenhouse and, hopefully, purchase some bedding plants
- Work

As for work, it's taken time, but I am finally getting back to my old, pre-COVID, pre-grief self and am back in full program-planning mode. I have a string of programs lined up to run from now through the end of the year, at least, and am extremely happy to be able to do them. Things feel almost 'normal' again...at least at work. Part of the week this week will be spent pulling out old program boxes and reorganizing them with fresh ideas.

  1. I love that the hope chest got redone. I love dealing with wood and all that sort of thing for sure. Great fun.

Snow here today, though it stopped quickly.

    1. I'm glad that son was willing to take it on. I couldn't even see the possibility that it could be salvaged. On my own accord I would have just trashed it. I need to start viewing things with fresh eyes and new possibilities! Am sending warm, snow-melting thoughts of spring your way! :)

  2. We have been doing home renovations, and taking out all of the old carpet. We recently did the walk-in closet, and I am going through every single box and tote before putting anything back. I cannot believe some of the stuff we saved. We have a ton to donate and the trash bin outside was full again. Have a productive and fun week.

    1. I know it's a job, but it's so worth it when it's done. I know what you mean about not being able to believe some of the stuff saved. I am definitely going to be more discerning in future about what to save and what not to. I can't wait for trash pickup this week so I can get started on another load from the shed here. Have a great rest of the week and thanks for stopping in! :)

  3. Hi Rebecca! It's so wonderful to hear that you are feeling more like yourself and energized into this new chapter of life! That chest is so beautiful! We're still battling trying to make winter completely end here in the WI northwoods...but there are signs of true Spring in sight. ;) Blessings on your week ahead. xo

    1. Hey, Carrie! Thanks for stopping in! I've honestly wondered, at times, if I would ever be well again, but am so glad that I am! God is so good! The chest IS beautiful! I couldn't imagine my son being able to do anything with it, but he sure did a good job! I'm trying to figure out, now, what to put in it. Am sending thoughts of spring and warm wishes your way. Soon, my friend! Very soon! Have a great rest of the week! <3

  4. Your photos are stunning as always. Glad you are feeling more like yourself lately after all you've been through. And thank you for mentioning getting your cats flea meds, on my to do list now as well. Do you think with the crazy early warm days, the fleas and ticks will be worse this year? Hope you have a great rest of your week!

    1. Thanks, Jean! Me, too (glad that I'm more like myself) and you're welcome (for the flea pill reminder)!!! As for ticks and fleas...I'm thinking maybe so. I've already seen more ticks this year than I did all of last year pur together. You have a great rest of the week on your end, too!
