Spring Bucket List 2022

“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest,
and cold and heat, and summer and winter,
and day and night shall not cease" (Genesis 8:22).

Winter is behind us and, here we are, in the earliest days of Spring 2022. Here in southwest Missouri we've had a few nice days, but most have been chilly, windy, cloudy, and/or wet. I look forward to warmer, nicer, and prettier days ahead! ๐ŸŒท

Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - March 28, 2022

Good morning! It's hard to believe that we're in the last week of March and heading into April already. Where has the month of March disappeared to? Wow! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

How was your week and weekend? Mine was good here. Every week I plan on posting throughout the week, but, before I know it the week is gone and, here I am, back around to Monday morning again. In a way, I guess that's good, because I'm staying busy, but, the truth is, if I could ever get myself settled down inside and get focused, I might do a better job of keeping up with things.

Dandelion

Last week I worked on Monday and Saturday, and attended a Jubilee planning meeting on Thursday. Prairie Jubilee is an event that we put together biannually at the park in celebration of the tallgrass prairie. It's generally held the last weekend of September on even numbered years, but, due to COVID, it was canceled in 2020. We are greatly looking forward to hosting it this year. The 2022 event will be held Saturday, September 24th from 10:00 am. to 3:00 p.m. You can learn more about it by clicking HERE.

Henbit

On Thursday I found out that Tony and Nicole (youngest son and daughter-in-law) are having a girl. Miss Kelly Margaret Anne is due to arrive mid-June. Had it been a boy the plan was to name it John, after my husband, but Kelly was his middle name, so he still will be honored with the birth of this new little granddaughter. I'm so pleased and I absolutely love the name! John would be pleased, as well!

Speaking of babies...I'm not 100% sure yet, but I think that the kitty I adopted may be pregnant. She's developing quite a paunch around the middle. I had planned on getting her spayed right away, but it might be too late. By the way, I finally settled on a name. The new kitty's name is Fiona.

Sweet Fiona

Well...the week ahead promises to be a busy one, so let's get started, shall we?

Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - March 21, 2022

Good morning!  Happy Spring! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™

I trust that you and yours had a nice weekend and pray that your first full week of spring is off to a great start!

Daffodils Blooming in My Yard

Things are going well here. I had a great early St. Patrick's Day with the fam on Tuesday...corned beef, cabbage, baked potatoes, Emerald Isle Cake, and lots of giggly grandchildren running around all over the place! (And, would you believe??? I didn't take a single photo!!! Argghh!) ๐Ÿ€

I did miss seeing Amanda and her family this week though. Sadly, things worked out in such a way that I wasn't even able to meet Amanda and the girls for supper Friday evening, so I didn't get to see them all this holiday.

Joyous news! Buddy and Christy found out that their baby is a little girl and Tony and Nicole will find out what theirs is very soon. I cannot wait to meet either one of these new little grandbabies, both of which are due this summer!  ๐Ÿ‘ถ

Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to work ahead on this post over the weekend, and I have to be at work shortly, so I'm going to cut this short and get started. Let's do it! Shall we?

Phoebe

This week's master to-do list...

- work
- clean house
- do laundry
- get together with my friend, Carla
- attend a Jubilee planning meeting
- get together with Amber to plan an upcoming overnight trip
- start spring cleaning
- repot seedlings

Spring Beauty

This week's menu plan...

Monday - Chili dog (turkey dog) and chips
Tuesday - Turkey breast tenderloin with mashed potatoes, green beans, and salad
Wednesday - Taco-stuffed sweet potato
Thursday - Broiled salmon, baked potato, and green beans
Friday - Homemade pizza
Saturday - Breakfast for supper
Sunday - Leftovers

Have a great week everyone and greatly enjoy this first official week of Spring 2022!

Monday Musings and Preparing For St. Patty's Day

Good morning! It's Monday! ๐Ÿ˜Š

And what a beautiful Monday it is, too! Mostly sunny, windy, and 55 degrees! The tail end of last week's snow has completely disappeared and a high of 58 is expected. From here on out it look like smooth sailing with highs (most days anyway) in the 60's and 70's and lows in the 40's and 50's. Spring is definitely winning out as Old Man Winter slowly, but surely, loosens his frigid grip.

To be honest this has been the longest, loneliest winter on record. (Not that there haven't been people around, because there has been. This is the kind of loneliness that prevails even if you're in a whole room FULL of people. There are no words to describe it.) Usually, I enjoy winter, but not this year. I'm so thankful that spring is on its way! I'm determined to enjoy each and every moment of it as I bask in its beauty and glory! ๐ŸŒท

I've found that I've pulled in on so many fronts since my husband's death. In dealing with (and not dealing with, in some cases) my thoughts, feelings, and grief, I have built walls...some to protect myself; others to keep out what, up to now, I've been unable (or not known how) to deal with, but, little by little, I'm finding my way. I am determined that, no matter what it takes, I'm going to fight through the brokenness, the fear, and the grief, and, some way, some how, tear down walls and bust through to the other side of all that God has created me to be and do...period! I think that part of that process will take place through just being me and sharing myself...my thoughts and feelings...here, in my own arena, without guise nor pretense. My intentions are good at the moment. We'll see if I can stop flying by the seat of my pants now and actually settle myself down to do it. I appreciate those of you who stick with me no matter what. It means a lot.

Okay...so here we are...the Monday before St. Patrick's Day!

As most of you know, St. Patrick's Day has always been a special day for our family. It's a great day o' fun for the wee ones (young and old alike) and, generally, just a good overall excuse to call for a gatherin' o' the clan. We are celebrating this year tomorrow (on the 15th; I have to work the 17th).

We have always scheduled the event around Amanda's schedule. She and Aaron and Alysia, were supposed to arrive this evening, but, unfortunately, Aaron is not well, so they will be unable to attend. (Please pray over him. I just found out that they spent last evening in the ER.) The gatherin' o' the clan sure won't be the same without them and this is our first St. Patrick's Day without John. ๐Ÿ’”

I love and miss you, my Darling! ๐Ÿ’š

St. Patrick's Day 2021
Most of the clan had already come and gone last year
when our youngest son took this photo by doing a flyover
with his drone. I'm so thankful that he thought to do it.

Amber and I went shopping Saturday for the St. Patty's Day feast. I'm serving the same thing that I serve every year...corned beef and cabbage, baked potatoes, and Emerald Isle Cake. I purchased both deli corned beef and flat cut corned beef roasts (super nice and really lean). I cooked the roasts in the crockpot yesterday, then cooled and sliced them last night. I'm preparing to bake the cakes this afternoon and will bake the potatoes and cook the cabbage in the morning. I am greatly looking forward to having the children and grands here, even if some of them can only come for a short time.

Well, it's almost lunch time. I guess I better stop for now and get busy. It's been good to sit down and visit with you this morning! You have a great day and I'll be with you again soon!

Until next time...

Master To-Do List and Menu Plan Monday - March 14, 2022 - The Sunday Night Edition

It's Sunday evening and the house is quiet. I've decided to use this time to catch up a bit with things here. How's everyone doing? Did y'all remember to set your clocks ahead before going to bed last night?

Things are going well here. Hours have picked up at work and I've been staying busy on the home-front, as well. This past week I sorted through and organized a couple of bookcases, took down and washed the livingroom curtains, and donated another bag of stuff to a local thrift store. I purchased rug cleaner and plan on shampooing carpets soon.

Red-Headed Woodpecker

A week ago (in the middle of a rainstorm) I decided to officially adopt the pretty kitty that's been hanging around for a while now, and moved her in. So far we're getting along fine and it's nice having another living being in the house. I haven't decided on a name for her yet, but think I'm getting close.

Pretty Kitty

I'm greatly looking forward to the week ahead. Let's go ahead and get started on this week's post and maybe you'll understand some of the reasons why.

A Cup of Irish Tea
