Prayer and Praise

Greetings, Dear Ones!

It's amazing how quickly things can change. Wednesday afternoon I posted about my husband and I being under the weather, making a chocolate cake, and starting a new puzzle; a few hours later my husband was laying on the kitchen floor with his eyes wide open, but unresponsive. I thought he had had a stroke. I called 9-1-1 and, long story short, my husband in in the hospital with COVID-19. I can't be with him, BUT...he is doing very well at this point and, word has it, that he may get to come home soon! 💓

I am so thankful for the Lord's love, care, and protection! I am also thankful for all the folks that He has put in our path and into our lives, and for those that have been lifting us up in their thoughts and prayers. It means so much!

A word of advice...

Stay close to those you love and don't ever take a moment with them for granted. Things can change so quickly and, sometimes, the story doesn't end as well as ours has this time.

Love and blessings to all and until next time...

National Chocolate Cake Day

It's a cold, wintery afternoon here in southwest Missouri. In fact, we woke up to snow this morning.

My husband and I are still a bit under the weather so we're just staying in and taking it easy. I made a pot of taco soup and a pan of cornbread this morning for us to enjoy as we felt like it throughout the day and I started a jigsaw puzzle...Great Painters...The Impressionists.

Great Painters - The Impressionists

While scrolling through Facebook I discovered that today is National Chocolate Cake Day! To celebrate I made our favorite chocolate cake with a new-to-us, but very old-fashioned frosting recipe. Here are the recipes for both...

COCOA FUDGE CAKE

1 2/3 cup flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup cocoa
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour (or spray with pan spray) a 13x9x2-inch pan. Mix all ingredients together well and pour into cake pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until done. Ice with Broiled Butterscotch Frosting.

   Broiled Butterscotch Frosting

2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 cup chopped nuts
2 tablespoons milk

Mix ingredients together (I omitted the nuts) and spread over warm cake. Set oven control to broil or 550 degrees. Broil cake about 5 inches from heat until frosting bubbles and browns slightly...about 3 minutes. (Watch carefully as frosting burns easily.) Frosts one 13x9x2-inch cake.

I wasn't sure about this frosting at first, but my husband and I both really like it and I will definitely make it again.

How about you? How's your Wednesday going and what's the weather like where you're at?

Until next time...

Master List and Menu Plan Monday - January 25, 2021

Greetings, Dear One! Happy Monday! 💗

How was your week and weekend?

Ours here was blah! I wasn't feeling a week ago Saturday, but made it through the weekend and the work day on Monday. Tuesday John and I ran to town, finished up our shopping, and picked up a few things for a family member. We've accomplished very little ever since.

I didn't get a chance to take many photos this past week, but will share a few that I took on our way home from town on Tuesday. Like this one...

Old Farm House Out In The Country

They're not much to look at now, but, at one time, this old house was someone's brand new home.

Was it a house that some proud, young farmer built for his beautiful new bride? Or perhaps it was an older man fulfilling a long-ago promise to a wife that had patiently made do all those many years while he was busy running the farm and making a living. Perhaps it was built for comfort in their old age.

Whatever the case, these old structures have a story and oh! How I wish they could talk!

Okay...enough rambling! Time is slipping away and I need to get on with this week's post!

Women's Ministry

For the past year I have sent out a monthly ministry letter for women to a few ladies that the Lord has laid on my heart. In 2021 I am considering sending the letter out via email to whosoever might be interested in receiving it.

If you would like to receive the January 2021 letter, please, send me an email with your contact info (name and email address) to proverbs31heart@yahoo.com. Please put MONTHLY MINISTRY LETTER on the subject line so I don't accidently overlook your request.

Thank you!

Feeling Like You're Surrounded By The Servants of Darkness?

When you feel surrounded by the servants of darkness, remember the story of Elisha and his servant...

"And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master, how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha" (2 Kings 6:15-17).
Our God...the same...yesterday, today, and forever!

Until next time,

Encouragement in Times of Trouble

Greetings, Dear Ones,

I just posted this on Facebook earlier and, with the way that they are manipulating and pulling stuff down, I decided to repost it here on my blog for safe-keeping. Hopefully, it will be of encouragement to others out there.

Warning...it is long and rambling.

Many people have expressed sadness, depression, discouragement, and a whole host of other emotions and feelings today. To them I say...
First and foremost, as much as I love and respect the man for all he's tried to do for us as a nation, President Donald J. Trump was not, is not, never has been, nor ever will be, our Savior. Jesus Christ is and He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Nothing is going on that has not first been filtered through God's fingers and He is still on the throne, still in control, and still wins in the end...no matter whose in office or what's going on.
Secondly, I addressed a friend earlier and, for others that might be feeling some of the same things she was, I'm going to share some of what I said to her here.
In response to part of a conversation that was taking place, I responded with...
"...God is still on the throne and is still in the mix and this isn't over! This isn't about Trump and Biden! This is a spiritual battle...a major end-time battle between good and evil of Biblical proportion! It's a major end time battle that is taking place just before the soon return of Jesus Christ! It is Matthew 24 being played out before our very eyes and we have been hand-selected by God for such a time as this! This is where we dig into the Word! We find those promises that apply and we stand on them! We pray and we stay engaged! We keep pressing forward and get busy about the Lord's work...doing whatever we can and whatever He calls us to within our own spheres of influence. We stay on top of our politicians! We pray for them, contact them regularly, and encourage them to do the right thing...and, if they don't...we vote them out next time! Stay in tune to the Word! As we wade into unchartered waters the Holy Spirit will continue to lead, guide, and direct God's people. This isn't over until God says it's over and His leading has been quite clear up until now. I'm absolutely sure that He's not going to leave us hanging. Stand strong, don't be discouraged, and don't get over into fear. God's got this and we are going to see some amazing things in the days to come!"
In addition to this, I said...
...Things aren't as bad as they want us to think. Now...shake off the battle dust, pull yourself up by the bootstraps (combat boots, that is), straighten those shoulders, get that chin up, wipe away the tears, and resign yourself to keep right on marching no matter what!"
Then I added...
(Rebecca starts singing...Onward Christian soldier...marching as to war...with the cross of Jesus...going on before..."...her voice trails off as she, herself, marches wearily on.. tattered U.S. flag in hand...over the hill and out of sight)
Born-again Believers, we are Christians first, then patriots. Our allegiance is to God first, then to our country. Both are important.
Everyone is asking...now what do we do? Do all of the above. Get off the secular media where they are only telling you what they want you to hear and tune in to Victory's AMERICA STANDS and FLASHPOINT programs. It's the only place that we're getting truthful news as it unfolds. It's incredible how much the mainstream and social media groups are leaving out, manipulating, and twisting to keep Americans blinded and in chaos and, sadly, most of them don't even realize that they're being played. What's even sadder is, that most of them don't care that they're being played or even want to know they truth. They are happy just as they are...deceived and being deceived. It breaks my heart. Pray for them. Pray that their eyes and ears would be opened to the truth before it's too late!
Lastly, I want to encourage you to get involved. As Krisanne Hall said earlier on VICTORY...the office of president isn't where the power is. It starts at the local level and that is where we need to be.
I'm going to go a step further and say this...government begins in the home...then in the church...then at the local level...city, then state, then federal. We need to be cutting this stuff off at the root!
Listen people, it's time to get your own house in order and get involved in a GOOD Bible-believing church. There are a lot of churches out there, but, sadly, most of them are not Bible-believing and, many of them that claim to be, pick and choose the verses that back their own twisted view and refuse the whole council of scripture taken in context. This is NOT how it should be!
After that, get involved in your local government...city, county, and state...and stay involved! THIS is where the power is! It starts at the bottom and works its way up! If local guys and gals aren't carrying out their duties in a way that aligns with scripture...get them out of there!!! PERIOD! And get somebody in there that will!!!
I'm just rambling now and am going to stop. The whole point of this message is...don't be discouraged...don't be depressed...don't give into fear! Get up, get going, and keep going! God is still in the mix and, through Him, victory is ours...no matter how bad things look!

Until next time,
~Rebecca

Master List and Menu Plan Monday - January 4, 2021

Greetings, Dear One! 💗

Happy first Monday of a brand new year!!! 📅 I trust that 2021 is off to a great start for you and yours. What did you do to ring in the New Year? 🎉🎆🎊

John and I watched a New Year's Eve church service online until it went off at 11:00, then, we switched over to a news channel that was counting down to midnight across the country. At midnight we blew our party horns, shot off a couple party poppers, and toasted the New Year with a couple of glasses of grape juice. We hung it up a little after 1:00 a.m. and went to bed. 😴

A little before 4:00 a.m. the electricity went off. We were in the middle of an ice storm! Fortunately, we were only without power for about 40 minutes, but, one of our children and their family was out for several hours.

On New Year's Day we stayed in and enjoyed the beauty of the frozen world, watched the birds in a feeding frenzy at the feeders, and enjoyed eating the traditional black-eyed peas and cornbread.

I worked on Saturday. Since the nature center is closed and nothing was going on, my husband rode out with me to witness the ice-encapsulated prairie. There was a chance of snow in the morning, but nothing materialized. Come mid-afternoon we found ourselves in the middle of a snowstorm...and it. was. BEAUTIFUL!!! In fact, I had to run outside for a few minutes and play in the great big, fluffy flakes!

I didn't know it until later, but my husband took photos and videos of my antics through the picture window on the east side of the nature center.

I ended up walking a good part of the quarter-mile loop as I attempted to photograph a norther harrier hawk that was sitting out the storm in the top of a small shrub. He flew away when I got too close. ❆

On the way home we witnessed some lovely sights...like these...

Our son came out and took this photo of a few of the bison with his drone...

Saturday night we had supper at our daughter and sil's and wished grandson, Silas, a Happy 13th Birthday. 🎂 By the time we headed home steps and roadways were very slick, but by Sunday afternoon the sun was shining, temperatures were back up in the 40's, and the ice and snow had all but melted away. In fact, here are a couple of pictures of our town and the surrounding area that our son took Sunday afternoon...

I guess that's more than enough about the weather. Besides, it's nearly time to head to work. I'm going to go ahead and get on with this post and YOU have a great day!

This week's master to-do list...

- work
- complete my weekly "home blessing"
- do laundry 👚
- continue to pray over and monitor election results 💓🤍💙
- wish dil #2 a Happy Birthday 🎂
- post a package 📦
- plan an anniversary getaway 💕
