Pretty Yellow Daffodils In My Kitchen - March 2018

Greetings, Dear Readers! 💗 It's Monday!

It is after 3:00 in the afternoon and I am just now getting around to lunch and finding time to sit down and visit with you. How is everyone?

What a different world we find ourselves in today than we did just a week ago! Things are changing from day to day and hour and to hour and, at times, it's hard to keep up. I pray that wherever you are, that you and yours are at peace, are well, and are well-prepared for whatever situations may arise in light of all that is going on around us in these uncertain times in which we live.

A lot of things have come to screeching halt on our end. The nursing home is now on total lock-down (no one is allowed in or out except for in the case of extreme emergency), all programs at work have been cancelled through April 30th, at least, and, due to the possibility of travel restrictions, our daughter is going to be unable to make it down from Kansas City this week, so our annual St. Patty's Day 'Gathering O' the Clan' has been postponed indefinitely until after we get past some of this stuff and she can make it down without fear of getting stuck here away from her home and job.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
On the home-front I just made a homemade pizza and I've got two loaves of Amish Friendship Bread baking in the oven. I will be sharing that recipe with you soon.

Let's get on with this week's post...shall we? 😊

I awoke to...

... gray skies and rain.

What I'm thinking...

... that people need to just calm down and use some common sense as we go on one of the bumpiest rides that this country has ever experienced.

What I'm thankful for...

... for God's unfailing love and protection in times of trouble.

On the breakfast plate...

... two slices of fat-free turkey, an egg, and a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese on toast with a cup of Twining's Irish Breakfast tea.

The weather...

... Right now it's 47 degrees and cloudy. Rain chances stick around throughout the ten-day as daytime temperatures remain steady in the 50's and 60's.

This week's menu plan...

Monday - Homemade pizza
Tuesday - Corned beef, cabbage, and baked potatoes
Friday - Broiled salmon, baked potatoes, and coleslaw
Saturday - Baked pasta with meatballs (freezer) and homemade bread (freezer)
Sunday - Leftovers

On my 'to do' list...

I'm so used to having to go, go, go that it's hard to figure out what to do with all of this extra time that is looming before me. It will be a great time to focus on the home-front (cooking, cleaning, purging, and organizing) and maybe work on a few of those projects that I dream of working on and never have time for. The problem with me is going to be learning how to shift gears and settle myself down enough to do it.

Monday - Complete my weekly "home blessing", do laundry, figure the mid-month budget, run to the bank
Tuesday - Make lists of things I want to work on and accomplish, celebrate St. Patty's Day at home without fanfare
Wednesday - Work around the house; put up sauerkraut
Thursday - Catch up on some reading, enjoy the first day of spring
Friday - Work
Saturday - Work
Sunday - Church

On my reading pile...

Well, Ladies, that's it for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have a great week ahead! Stay close the Lord and stay in His Word!

Until next time...

  1. So sorry to hear you had to postpone your Saint Patrick's Day plans. Hadn't heard about the possibility of travel restrictions locally? I like your clover! Have some of them shamrocks in my yard as well. Hope you have a great week and a happy Saint Patrick's Day!
