Happy Homemaker Monday - January 6, 2020

Greetings, Dear Ladies! Happy First Monday of 2020!!! 😊

I pray that this post finds you happy, healthy, and productive and that your new year is off to a great start! πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ† HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ†

Here things have been going along. We got the tire fixed on the van, but we are still without hot water (have been since Christmas morning). The thermocouple has been replaced, as has the gas valve; now we are waiting on the company to send another part. They assured me that this is the only part left that it CAN be. I'm like...how many parts are you going to send before just replacing the hot water heater??? πŸ˜•

I did manage to get the Christmas decorations down, organized, and packed away for another year and I got a great deal on some after-Christmas sales. I've got all of my cookie tins for next year, plus hot cocoa mugs, wrapping paper, bows, name tags, and more...all for 50 to 70% off. I am extremely pleased with my purchases! πŸ˜„

I worked Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and on Thursday I took grandson, Silas, out to lunch for his birthday (which was a day early); we were invited over to the house Friday night for supper and to celebrate his birthday with the family. πŸŽ‚

Silas and his sister, Esther - 2020
It's hard to believe how fast these grandchildren are growing up. It seems like only yesterday that they were babies and toddlers. Where does time go?

Speaking of time...today would have been my grandmother, Viola's, birthday.

Had she still been with us, we would have been celebrating her 100th! Happy Birthday, Grandma! I love and miss you! πŸ’–

On the breakfast plate...

... This morning I had fat-free turkey slices, Laughing Cow cheese, and an egg on toast with hot tea

The weather...

At the moment it's 49 degrees and cloudy. The week ahead doesn't look bad at all.

Saturday - Hot pork sandwiches with mashed potatoes and fried cabbage
Sunday - Leftovers

On my 'to do' list...

- Tuesday - Clean fridge and fridge freezer; go to the post office, deep-clean bathroom and hallway
- Wednesday - Deep-clean bedroom; consider 2020 ministry goals
- Thursday - Doing something enjoyable

- Saturday - Work; wish our youngest daugher and her sil that shares a birthday with her (our youngest dil) a Happy Birthday πŸŽ‚

In the craft basket...

... I still have a few rows to go on the 2019 temperature afghan, but will post a pic when finished...hopefully this week!!!

Looking forward to this week...

... Doing some deep cleaning, organizing, and purging.

When I got home from work Saturday night my husband surprised me with potato gnocchi topped with bolognese and peas and served with thick slices of homemade French bread. It was delicious! πŸ’—

  1. Oh, I LOVE yellow roses, too! Almost bought some at the store just the other night (they were having a 1/2 price sale) but didn't do it. Reading this and seeing that picture makes me wish I'd have went for it. Good grief, that's a long time to go without hot water. Not sure how I'd manage. Hope you get that sorted out very soon and have a wonderful week!

    1. So jealous, Jean! When I lived back home I always bought yellow roses to have on the table in memory of Grandma on her birthday; here???? You can't find a yellow rose in early January...not even a plastic one! It makes me so sad! :( As for the hot water...we're STILL out! After replacing three different parts that just HAD to be the one, they are FINALLY replacing the hot water heater. Because it's propane and an odd-ball size it is having to be special ordered and won't be here until Tuesday. :/ BUT...at least by Tuesday night we should be back in business after being without for almost three full weeks. It will be a blessing! Hope your 2020 is off to a great start! God bless you, my friend! <3

  4. Again you hsared such an uplifting and challenging post.. I alwaws think I need to get busy on that, too.. Deep cleaning... ministry goals... great ambitions but easy for me to lay by the wayside... sad to say... I get sort of bogged down with waht I think my assignment is in the Lord that is working on a prayer team in our church and it saturate myself with that.. Then it is easy to let things go.. Thankfully Hubs loves to pick up the slack around here!!!

    1. Schotzy, look up Julia Bettencourt. Her site is where I get a lot of my ministry ideas from. Right now I'm working on it "It's About Time!" I keep getting a check down in my spirit about how short time really is and we need to be about the Father's work. It's been years since I focused y attention on ministry goals and it's time to jump in with both feet! Blessings, my friend! I'll be praying for you as you seek the Lord's will, wisdom, and direction in every area! <3
