Happy Homemaker Monday - December 2, 2019

Greetings, Dear Ones! Happy Monday! (The first of December! Can you believe it???) 💓

How was your week and weekend? I trust that you had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday and that you are ready to delve headlong into the Christmas season, as it is now fully upon us...and, for our family, it's even closer! Our annual Family Christmas get-together is coming up one week from Saturday. There is much to do before then, but I'm determined to keep things simple and take it one day...one step...at a time. 🎄

Our week and weekend here was good, busy, and overshadowed with dealing with some hard realities and having to make some tough decisions.

The early part of the week was spent cooking, cleaning, and preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday.

On Wednesday we went to our youngest daughter's in North Kansas City. While there we saw Frozen 2 at the theater and enjoyed lunch at The Courthouse Exchange in Indepenence. We crammed a lot of fun into a very short visit! 💗

The Courthouse Exchange
It's a long story and I won't go into it now, but, while we were there, we also picked up a few bricks from the foundry (the Indepedence Stove and Furnace Company) where both my dad and father-in-law worked when John and I were children.

This was something that was very important to us and a dear lady in the Independence mayor's office helped us obtain the bricks after the foundry was recently razed. We are eternally grateful to her!

Thanksgiving morning our daughter prepared a special holiday breakfast for us (overnight French toast with pecans and maple syrup, cranberry-orange scones served with cranberry-orange butter, bacon, fresh fruit, and more) and everything was absolutely delicious!!! I want to get the recipe for the overnight French toast from her and share it with you here. It was extremely yummy! 😋

After breakfast we left our daughter's, stopped for a short visit with a friend in my hometown of Grain Valley, then, headed home in time to catch up with friends and family over Thanksgiving dinner at our oldest daughter and son-in-law's. Despite some tough times and a few trials we ended up having an altogether lovely and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday here! 🦃

Enough about last week! Let's get right on into this week's post, shall we?

Happy Homemaker Monday! 💗
Right now I am...

... Enjoying a cup of tea and the flicker of candlelight while working on this post.

On the breakfast plate...

... Scrambled eggs, toast, yogurt, and hot tea

The weather...

... Right now it's sunny and 27 degrees with a windchill of 18 but we're supposed to reach a high of 52 this afternoon, so not too bad.

On my 'to do' list...

- Monday - Plan the week ahead, get caught up on housework and laundry, figure December budget and bills
- Tuesday - Pay bills, do a food inventory, finish decorating for Christmas (I have never decorated for Christmas this late in my life!) 🎄
- Wednesday - Focus on Christmas - cards
- Thursday - Focus on Christmas - wrapping gifts 🎁
- Friday - Work
- Saturday - Work (special event - CHRISTMAS ON THE FARM @ Watkins Woolen Mill - Lawson, Missouri)
- Sunday - Church

In the craft basket...

... Hope to catch up on the temperature afghan if I get time at some point. I'm, at least, two weeks behind...maybe more.

Looking forward to this week...

... Hopefully, being able to get Christmas wrapped up (literally). We still haven't had a chance to decorate properly and there is much to do before Family Christmas. I'm hoping that I can get most of it done and put to rest this week so I can focus on the food part of it next. We shall see!

Prayer requests...

 - President Trump, Vice-President Pence, all elected officials and their families in every arena from the federal to the local level in every town, city, county, and state, and our nation as a whole
- A great awakening within our nation as took place in the mid-1700's, again in the early 1800's, and again in the late 1800's...early 1900's. Its time!
- Our friend and second-mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Pat - stroke, dementia, and congestive heart failure; needs 24-hour care and has been admitted to a long-term skilled nursing facility.
- Godly wisdom, direction, and peace during a time of change and tough decisions

Thanks so much!

Well, Ladies! That's it for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have a blessed and beautiful week ahead! 💗

Until Next Time...
