It's a rainy Saturday morning here in Southwest Missouri and I'm off work for the weekend...the last official weekend of the summer season 2019!
I have decided to use a portion of this time off to sit on my back porch, relax with a cup of hot tea, listen to the rain, and update my Summer Bucket List 2019.
This summer has been busier than usual and it has fairly flown by without me accomplishing much of anything that I had hoped to beyond work. It seems that the things that have been accomplished have had to be grabbed at, here and there, in bits and pieces, without really getting to enjoy any of them. I feel like I've been on a treadmill for months and it's really starting to wear on me. All I can do at this point is move on into fall and hope for better things.
Once again, the summer season is upon us and, as always, it promises to be a busy one. I have been thinking about some of the things that I'd like to do this summer and some of the things that I hope to accomplish over the course of it. I know that, in reality, I probably won't get to all of them, but having a list will certainly help me to focus on the season and remind me to enjoy it to the fullest!
1.Write my summer bucket list
2.Grill burgers on the hibachi π
3. Create a new nature journal π
4. Resurrect my card and letter-writing ministry
5. Finish emptying the carport of stored totes
6.Make homemade ice cream π¦
7.Bake a 4th of July pie π✰π
8.Make red, white, and blue Jello π✰π
9.Celebrate Independence Day with family π
10.Enjoy fresh produce and herbs out of our own garden π
πΏπ½
11.Celebrate summer birthdays with the grandlittles (and, believe you me, there's a BUNCH of them!) π§ππ¦
12.Eat watermelon π
13. Go to the zoo π§
14. Take a vacation (even if just for a few days and is somewhere close by) π
15. Enjoy the Perseids meteor shower ⭐π π
(Unfortunately it was too cloudy to see the night that it peaked. We ended up missing it entirely.) π
16. Plan and complete summer programs at work:
a)Hug-A-Herp Day ππΈπ’
b)Explorer Daycamp 2019 (Invasive Species) π
(This program was a total flop. Not a single soul showed up for it.) π
c)Ants on Parade Library Program π
d)In A Grasshopper's World Library Program
e)Leaf Man Library Program π
f)Nature Weaving Homeschool Program
17.Enjoy a summer storm
18.Celebrate my birthday with a banana split π
19.Catch a firefly
20.Work the Empire Fair @ Springfield
21. Paint, hide, and find rocks
22. Declutter and clean the back porch/greenhouse
23.Complete 24 hours of reading for the summer reading program at the local library (doesn't have to be library books) π
24. Launch my new business as an independent
Norwex consultant
(This was short-lived. While, technically, I'm still a consultant, I've not had a single minute to devote to Norwex or Lilla Rose, either one, and haven't sold a single item. Am trying to decide whether to just let them go or hang on to them just in case the day comes that I can devote more time and energy to them.) π
25. Build a bonfire π₯
26. Visit friends at Pomme de Terre
27. Attend an outdoor concert πΈ
28.Preserve what I can of the summer bounty π½
(We didn't get a lot, but put up what we could...mostly tomatoes.)
29. Play in cool water on a hot day π€½
30. Have a yard sale
31. Collect rocks
32. Complete the moon garden π
33. Hike a new trail
34.Witness morning glories blooming for the first time on our front porch
35. Visit at least two Missouri state parks that I've never been to before
36.Deep clean the Van Gogh room (a.k.a. my office) π¨
37. Observe and/or sketch at least ten interesting things found in nature πππππ’πΎππππ¦
38.Be alert to opportunities that lend myself available as the hands and feet of Jesus on this earth
39.Order crocus bulbs for fall planting
40. Finish recycled Christmas card project that I've started
That's what's on my summer bucket list. Now...what's on yours?
Until next time...
