Good morning, Dear Ladies! Happy Monday! 💗
I trust that each and every one of you had a good week last week and that your Monday is off to a great start!
Our week was good here. John finally got his new glasses on Tuesday and, while we were out, we enjoyed a belated birthday lunch with grandson, Isaiah, and granddaughter, Audrey, while in the midst of celebrating her 14th birthday. We also attended her birthday tea party that evening with real cheesecake instead of birthday cake. 💗
On Thursday granddaughter, Abby, and I enjoyed a belated birthday lunch and ice cream outing. Afterwards, we went and had our pictures taken together in one of those crazy photo booths at the mall. What a hoot and so much fun! 😄
I worked Friday and Saturday. Part of my job is to get out on the prairie and see what's in bloom and, right now, the entire prairie is awash with color! It is absolutely stunning!
After church on Sunday, John and I enjoyed a quiet afternoon at home, then, took a walk around the neighborhood in the evening.
Now...here it is...Monday morning and we're off and running into a brand new week! Won't you join me as, I link up with Sandra of Diary of a Stay At Home Mom and all the other lovely ladies that gather there on this week's Happy Homemaker Monday? 💗
Right now I am...
... finishing up breakfast and enjoying a cup of hot tea while I work on this post.
On the breakfast plate...
... egg, toast, yogurt, and hot tea
... 69 degrees, cloudy, and humid with a chance of storms coming up a little later in the morning. The high today is only supposed to be 82 degrees, but we've got another hot week on tap according to the 10-day forecast...
On my reading pile...
I finished Mother Culture by Karen Andreola (good book!) but, in addition to daily scripture reading, I am still working on Interpreting Our Heritage by Freeman Tilden, and Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
... spending time with my more-like-family-than-friends friend, Dorothy. We've known each other since 5th grade and have been through a world of thick and thin together. It's been a year since we've seen each other, so it will be good to get caught up with one another again! 💗
... Bats darting around the darkening sky under a nearly full moon last night. 🦇

DeleteSounds like you've had a lot of fun with family and friends - what a great way to spend the summer. I LOVE that Rosin weed, but calling it a weed sounds funny - it's too pretty, but that Blazing Star is gorgeous! Your temperature afghan is looking great too. Have a FANTASTIC week.
ReplyDeleteI know! I, too, believe that rosin weed is much too pretty to be called a weed, but...who am I? LOL! I would like to know the story behind that! And, yes! The blazing star is absolutely gorgeous and by the end of the week it is going to be spectacular! Hope you're Monday is going well and that the week ahead is phenomenal! Blessings, my friend! <3

Thanks, Deanna, but my birthday isn't until August. This was my granddaugher, Audrey's, birthday. It's not too bad here today, but it's supposed to be popping back up into the 90's after tomorrow. Yeah! (Not!) LOL! Hope you're week is off to a great start! <3

Then, I savor the melt-in-your-mouth sweetness of lemon curd and shortbread. So yummy! Thanks for stopping in! Blessings, Sweet Lady! <3

Thanks, Evie! They sure are! :) And, yes, it is a wonderful to live and work on the tallgrass prairies of southwest Missouri...a very unique ecosystem to be sure, and, yes, you're so right! It is such a blessing, to have such a BBF! Thanks for stopping in! Blessings! <3
DeleteHi dearest Rebecca! Looks like it was a lovely bday party for a very lovely lady. 💜
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing your landscape there - quite different from my northwoods. I'm always fascinated by the bats here at night too. They eat the mosquitos which is wonderful! But they kind of scare me too. Lol I know they're so important for the environment so I love to see them thriving.
Blessings on the rest of your week. xo
I'm sorry that I'm just now getting around to responding to this comment, Carrie. It's been a busy week and weekend. Yes, Audrey's party was quite lovely! And, yes, the tallgrass prairie is very different from your beautiful northwoods. VERY different! LOL! There's nothing to be afraid of with the bats. The only reason they swoop so close to our heads is because we attract mosquitoes and that's their food source. And, yes, they are a very important part of our environment! A single bat eats between 6,000 and 8,000 insects each night. Can we even begin to imagine what would happen if there were suddenly no bats? Oh, my!!! :O Have a blessed week ahead, my friend! <3
DeleteI love your photos of all the prairie flowers! Cheesecake birthday cake, your granddaughter knows how to do things right. Hope you stayed cool all week and have had a fabulous weekend so far.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yes, she does, Jean! Birthday cheesecake is the BEST!!! Yes, thanks to the a/c we've managed to stay cool, but, I can't help it. I'll be so glad when fall gets here! LOL! Have a blessed week ahead, my friend! <3
