Happy Homemaker Monday - June 3, 2019

Greetings, Dear Ladies! HAPPY MONDAY! 💗

Usually Monday is my favorite day of the week, but this one is starting out to be one of those days!

First off, my mouse wasn't working (it was fine last night). I changed the battery, but that didn't fix it. I finally figured out that it isn't the mouse that is the problem. The USB port on my computer isn't working. That's the second USB port to go now, which means I'm down to one (I need three). 😢

Then, I had the first half of this post nearly done when something went wrong (I think I hit something by mistake) and all my windows suddenly closed. Normally, the drafts on Blogger automatically save every few seconds, so I wasn't concerned at all, but, then, when I restored the pages that had disappeared, nothing had been saved and, now, I am having to totally start over. Bummer! 😧

So...here goes...again...

Last week was full, yes, but not nearly as busy and much more relaxed than recent previous weeks have been.

Monday started out with Memorial Day, of course. After posting here, we went to our son and daughter-in-law's for a cookout. The food was good and we had a great time! After lunch, a few of us settled down to an afternoon of playing Apples to Apples. It's one of my favorite games and is so much fun to play! After we got home that evening I ordered the Bible Edition of it for here at home.

Tuesday was John's surgery. After being nearly blind for the past several months, he can now see out of his left eye! They don't know that they can do much for the right eye, but the surgery on the left eye was a complete success!

On Wednesday he had a follow-up appointment with his regular eye doctor and everything looked great! His vision continues to improve daily and it's been such a blessing to watch him as he discovers things that he's not seen before.

For example...a couple of days ago he was standing at the front door just staring out across the way with a look of wonder on his face. I said, "What are you seeing?" In a voice filled with the same wonder expressed on his face he said, "I'm watching a car drive down 130th Lane!" (130th Lane is the gravel road that runs parallel to our street, but lies a mile to our west and across the pastureland that is in front of our house and across the way!) It was amazing!!! 😄

We couldn't be happier for the way things have turned out and we are extremely thankful for all that have joined us in prayer over this situation! Thank you all so much! 💗

Things didn't work out with my aunts on Thursday, so we didn't get to meet them for lunch as planned, but the game that I ordered on Monday arrived Thursday afternoon. After supper that evening our daughter, son-in-law, and grands came for a visit and I made sopapillas. We had those served with ice cream and honey, then got out the Bible Edition of Apples to Apples and gave it a trial run. It's just as much fun as the original one. Actually, it's more fun, because there's no junk in it! I can't wait to play it again! 😊

I didn't work Friday, so it was spent catching up on things here at home and doing things that I like to do, but never get to. It was different and I sure did enjoy it! 💗

I worked Saturday morning, then, in the afternoon, we attended Joe's celebration of life. It was nice, but, I tell you, we're sure going to miss this guy. He was one of the best men we've ever known and was one of the best friends that my husband ever had. Joe was joy and blessing to know.

Yesterday was church in the morning and work in the afternoon. After I got home it was time to vegetate and do nothing...and I enjoyed every minute of it!

Enough about last week. Let's get on into this week's post...shall we? Please, join me as, I link up with Sandra of Diary of a Stay At Home Mom on Happy Homemaker Monday. 💗

Right now I am...

...retyping this post so I can get it out some time today. 😳

On the breakfast plate...

This morning I had yogurt, fresh fruit, and toast; now it is time for lunch.

The weather...

Better! We've actually had four days in a row with only a brief period of heavy rain. We've dried out enough that my cousin was able to mow on Saturday and my husband is working on trimming today. I think the storms are supposed to return this evening.

Please pray for all those that have been effected by tornadoes and flooding this past week. So many have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and even their lives. It's been unbelievable!

We are located in the southwest corner of Missouri in what they call the 'four-corners' area where Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas meet. You can see for yourself how many tornadoes we had to contend with, but those in the Kansas City area and our state capitol (Jefferson City) really got hit. Please continue to remember those folks in your prayers. Thank you!
Later in the week, once the weather finally broke and sunshine was back in the forecast, weathermen in Kansas City were posting things like this...

Needless to say, it really helped to break the tension of the previous few days.

On my reading pile...

Still stalled where I was...The Great Buffalo Hunt by Wayne Gard, Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Mother Culture by Karen Andreola.

On the menu this week...

My intentions were to have everything ready to embark on a low-spend, cabinet-clearing June, with posts to go with it, but, thus far, I've not even done a food inventory, so we'll see. 😉

In the craft basket...

Am keeping up with the temperature afghan and have made my first attempt at rock painting. Here are a few of my favorites...

Looking forward to this week...

Angie and I's day out. She's never been to the Amish stores and other things that are in the area we are visiting tomorrow, so it should be a lot of fun! 😁

Something I watched this week...

Have been binge watching Counting On in the evenings and am enjoying getting caught up with the Duggars. We just started Season 7.

  3. I know just how your husband feels with his eyes. I went from legally blind to 20/20 vision and to me every day is a miracle. But the early onset cataracts caused a vision loss, somewhat. I still see great but not with the clarity I did for a few years.

    1. Not to worry, Threesides! Believe me, I understand! I'm often late myself and, sometimes, not at all. Monday was a prelude to the rest of the week, but all is well that ends well, so we're good! Blessings for a great week ahead! XOXOXO
