Happy Homemaker Monday - January 14, 2018

Good morning, Dear Ones! Happy Monday! 💗

I pray that this post finds you and yours well and hope that your past week and weekend have been a good one for you.

We are well here and our week and weekend was good. The big accomplishment was that we managed to get the Christmas stuff down and packed away for another year (YEAH!!!!) AND I got the Van Gogh room (my office) cleaned and organized (HUGE undertaking), but there is a lot going on right now, so I am going to have to make this post short this morning. Let's get right to it, shall we?

Today I am joining Sandra and the other ladies over at Diary of a Stay At Home Mom
for Happy Homemaker Monday. Please be sure to go over and check it out! 💗
Right now I am...

... finishing up breakfast and enjoying a cup of hot tea while working on this post.

Am thinking...

... about
and praying over family members and friends that are dealing with grief and illness this morning.

On the breakfast plate...

... fat-free turkey, egg, and cheese sandwich and hot tea

The weather...

... 29 degrees and cloudy with a windchill of 21. The high today is suppose to be around 40 with sunshine by this afternoon.

On my reading pile...

I finished
Dear Kitchen Saints - Letters from an Iowa Housewife by Connie Hultquist and am reading The Great Buffalo Hunt by Wayne Gard and Pioneer Girl  - The Annotated Autobiography by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Pioneer Girl - The Annotated Autobiography by Laura Ingalls Wilder
On the menu this week...

Monday - salisbury steaks with fresh mushrooms and brussel sprouts
Tuesday - roasted chicken breasts, sauteed mushrooms, and steamed broccoli
Wednesday - Italian turkey-sausage stuffed peppers, sauteed zucchini and homemade French bread
Thursday - chili and cornbread

Friday - broiled salmon, sauteed zucchini, and oven roasted vegetables
Saturday -
turkey and wild rice soup
Sunday - leftovers

On my 'to-do' list...

Monday - Weekly "home blessing", laundry, clean fridge, do food inventory that I didn't get to last week

Tuesday - Middle of the month budget and banking
Wednesday - Library programs (Animals in Winter)

Thursday - Work

Friday - Work
Saturday - Off work...no plans yet (YEAH!)
Sunday - Church

In the craft basket...

Christmas gifts for next year using recycled Christmas cards. "Thank you!" to those that have saved and sent theirs to me. I appreciate it! 💗

Looking forward to this week...

Having Saturday off (it doesn't happen very often).

Something interesting that I watched this week...

I think all I've done this week is binge watch "Little House on the Prairie" (and I am so enjoying it)!

From the camera...

Enjoyed hearing Michael Franzese's testimony last night.
Scripture passage...

Well, Ladies, that's it for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have a blessed and beautiful New Year, and I'll see you next week! Blessings!

Until next time,
~Rebecca

  2. Hope you get to enjoy your Saturday off work! You probably already know they're calling for another big storm to come through up this way (we'll see) as well as colder weather. Hooray on getting your Christmas down and room organized! Working on a bit of organizing myself this morning (well, I see it's afternoon now, LOL). Hope you have a great week!

  5. HI Rebecca!

It's so nice to be back in blogland and back at HHM. It was a needed break, but always nice to get back.

I finally took down my Christmas decorations over the weekend too. Always a chore - but nice to start fresh too. Looks so bare around here though. ;)

I LOVE Little HOuse on the Prairie and will sometimes tape episodes I've seen a million times because I need to watch just once more. Lol

Have a blessed week ahead! xoxo

  8. Greetings, Sweet Ladies! As you can see, I am running so far behind this week that it isn't funny, BUT...it's Saturday! And I am off! (Doesn't happen very often!) And there is a dusting of snow on the ground and I am HAPPY!

So...I will answer all of you here...in order...

Lucy - Michael Franzese was heir-apparent to one of the five New York crime families. He has an amazing testimony as to how the Lord brought him out of that and into a life of service in the kingdom of God. It is amazing and well worth investigating! Hope you're having a lovely weekend! Blessings! <3

    Thanks, Schotzy!

Hello, Jean! It's SATURDAY! And I'm NOT at Prairie! LOL! It's been a great week though! The bison were at the nature center on Thursday and, yesterday, we had the cute little armadillo (you probably saw my pics and vido on FB). Anyway...I'm off and, yes, we got a dusting of snow here. How about there? Did you get dumped on again? (Send some my way!!!) The big thing here (and there, too, I'm sure) are high winds and super cold temps with lows in the teens tonight and windchills much colder. Stay warm and enjoy the snow (I'm so jealous!) and I'll talk to you soon! Blessings! <3

Sandra - PIONEER GIRL is awesome! Thus far I've made it through the introduction (which is super long) and the first chapter of what Laura actually wrote. Now I'm wading through the notations and pictures and stuff on the first chapter and all of it is so interesting. I do not care for Laura's daughter, Rose, though. I have a feeling that she was spoiled and made life miserable for Laura and Almanzo in their old age. If you get the book...enjoy! And blessings for a great weekend! (Are you getting the colder temps like we are here?)

Thanks, Schotzy! There's certainly nothing wrong with a repetitive menu! In fact, I believe that simpler, more nutritious food, as close to the way God made it as possible is the healthiest way to eat and that is what I am striving to get back to...and, yes, beans are good for the heart! People would be wise to get back to more beans on a regular basis and a more basic way of life all the way around. We'd all be better off for it. Blessings, my friend! I hope you're having a lovely weekend! <3

Welcome back to the blogging world, Carrie! I've missed you! Glad to know I'm not the only LITTLE HOUSE fan out there. I hadn't watched the television series in over 25 years and, I don't mind telling you, I am ENJOYING them! I had forgotten how funny some of them were and there's some that I don't remember seeing at all. It's like I'm watching them through fresh eyes and oh! What a joy! Hope you're having a great Saturday! Blessings, Sweet Lady! <3

Thanks, Becki! I certainly am enjoying this day off and am trying my best to stay warm. Right now it's 22 degrees with a windchill of 7 as temps continue to plummet...and the wind! The wind is ferocious out on this prairie as there are not a lot to slow it down. We're under a wind advisory until 6:00 this evening. Hope you're having a great Saturday, too! Blessings! <3

Hello, Jodi! Good to see you! I will eventually reveal what I am doing with the Christmas cards and I'm so appreciative to everyone who has sent theirs my way (I'm still accepting donations! LOL!). I've got my prototype finished and am ready to set to work on mass production of one of next year's gifts. Glad to know that you're a LITTLE HOUSE fan, too! Love it!!! Blessings for a great weekend! <3
