Happy Homemaker Monday - October 8, 2018

Good morning, Sweet Ladies!

Happy Monday!!! And Happy Columbus Day! How was your week and weekend?

Our week and weekend here was busy (as always), but good!

On Tuesday, Amber and I got together with dear friends over tea. We used to get together with them fairly often, but it had been awhile...far too long, in fact! We had a lot of fun and I love these ladies with all my heart! 💗

We had school groups on Wednesday and Thursday, so I worked mornings on both of those days and a full day on Friday.

Saturday we were supposed to meet up with family and go to the fall craft and music festival at Missouri Town, but, of all the things! It was cancelled due to heavy rains! I couldn't believe it! 😲 I don't ever remember that event being cancelled for any reason. Anyway, it was, so we didn't make it. I ended up going into work that day and offered to work in place of my boss, who happened to be celebrating his birthday. He took me up on my offer and I had the nature center to myself. I spent the entire day working on Friday's elk program. I was disappointed not to be at Missouri Town, but it turned out to be a good day after all and I got a lot accomplished. I worked Sunday afternoon, as well.

Today I'm joining Sandra and the other lovely ladies for Happy Homemaker Monday over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. Won't you join me? 💗

Today I'm joining Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom and
all of the wonderful ladies of
Happy Homemaker Monday!
Right now I am...

... Finishing up breakfast and enjoying a cup of tea while working on this post.

Am thinking...

... about too many things at once, so I won't even go there! 😄

On the breakfast plate...

... dh's oat bran and chocolate chip muffins and Twining's Irish Breakfast tea

The weather...

... 79 degrees and cloudy, at the moment, with a high of 82 and chances of rain expected later today. Cooler temperatures promise to prevail over the coming days with highs in the 60's and 70's and nighttime lows in the 40's and 50's. A week from today our high is supposed to be 53 degrees with an overnight low of 37. I like it! 🍁🍂🍁

On my reading pile...

... Right now I'm reading The Present Day Ministry of Jesus Christ by Kenneth E. Hagin.

On the menu this week...
Monday - cheese scalloped potatoes, spinach salad, green beans, and homemade bread (freezer)
Tuesday - turkey burgers and oven fries
Wednesday - turkey meatballs and sauce served over troodles (zucchini noodles), and homemade bread (freezer)
Thursday - ham, beans, and cornbread
Friday - salmon, sauteed yellow squash (freezer), and spinach salad
Saturday - homemade pizza (freezer)
Sunday - leftovers

On my 'to do' list...

- Monday - Plan the week ahead, do my weekly "home blessing", do laundry, start weatherizing for winter, clean heating stove
- Tuesday - Put the garden to bed (pick the last of the peppers and pull the plants); get together with my BFFF in the afternoon
- Wednesday - Work (bison vet checks a.m. and night hike p.m.)
- Thursday - Grocery shop, run errands
-Friday - Work
- Saturday - Work
- Sunday - Church, celebrate son-in-law and my BFFF's birthdays

In the craft basket...

Have been helping one of my granddaughters with her crocheting lately. She had learned to chain and single crochet from her other grandma, but she was interested in learning the next step, so I showed her how to double-crochet, then triple-crochet, and she has really taken off with it! She's doing a great job!

As for me...I'm doing nothing in the craft department right now. 😆

Looking forward to this week...

Working the bison (vet checks), Wednesday's night hike, and Friday's elk program...and any down time I can manage between things to work on things at home.

Something interesting I watched this week...

The amount of food that we waste in this country is disgraceful! I enjoyed watching this video posted by a friend on Facebook. While I don't suggest that we all go dumpster-diving, I do suggest that we be aware, be resourceful, look around us, and see what we each can do in our own spheres of influence. WE can make a difference, Ladies!

From the camera...

Mum Under The Kitchen Window

This is the biggest mum that we've ever owned or seen! I bought it last year and, at that time, it was big...about 18" across; this year it's a good 4 to 4 1/2 feet across! ONE PLANT!!! Amazing and beautiful! 💗

Scripture passage...

Well, Ladies, that's it for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have a blessed and beautiful week ahead! And I'll see you next week!

Until Next Time...
~Rebecca

  1. Wow! That video is really interesting! I know that Americans are wasteful, I get so mad at myself when I let things go bad, but I also know restaurants throw out good food all of the time, that's so sad! Thanks for sharing! Have a great week friend!

  2. Lovely mums! I planted another variety of mums a few weeks ago, tiny white ones. My other ones are pink.
    Have a great week

  3. I hear you, Stacy! I get mad at myself, too, when I let something go bad and have to throw it out. I'm much better about it now, but, it still happens on occasion and I don't like it, but, yes! What these restaurants do is disgraceful!!! If we each do our part, though, we can cut down on the overall waste. Thanks for stopping by and blessings for a wonderful week ahead! <3

  5. Your mum is beautiful! I keep trying to win one from the local nursery but I'm going to have to break down and just get one. Wish you were a little closer so I could join in on that night hike, sounds so fun. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  6. Thank, Jean! It would be nice if you could win one, but, yes, you might have to bite the bullet and just go buy one. Mums are so beautiful! I wish we were both closer! I have a feeling we'd have a lot of fun together. LOL! Yes, it would be nice if you could join us for the night hike. Have a great week and enjoy your Tuesday. Hopefully, it will quite and relaxing for you. Blessings! <3

  7. You are so right about the food issue in this country! I'm a real stickler for making my menus to use foods in their entirety. Gorgeous mums! Have a GREAT week.

  8. Oh my what a gorgeous Mum you have under the window. Just breathtaking!!!

It is insane how much food goes to waste, I try very hard to make use of everything in my house, especially food, so when I menu plan I even take into consideration leftovers for other meals.

Hope you have a wonderful week :)
