Happy Homemaker Monday - July 9, 2018

Greetings, Dear Friends! And Happy Monday! 💗

I trust that each and every one of you (at least those of you in the U.S.A) had a great Independence Day and (to all of you) that your Monday is off to a great start! 😊

In addition to spending a lot of time with family last week and having a great 4th of July here, we celebrated two more birthdays last week. Granddaughter, Abby, turned 13 (on the 5th) and grandson, Isaiah, turned 7 (also on the 5th), and today we celebrate another as our granddaughter, Audrey, turns 13. Lots and lots of summer birthdays to celebrate here! 🎂

Other than that, it was work on Friday and Saturday and a quiet afternoon at home on Sunday.
Gayfeather (a.k.a. Blazing Star) Just Now Getting Ready
to Bloom on the Tallgrass Prairie of Southwest Missouri
Sunday evening, my husband and I decided to go hike a couple of trails at Prairie State Park. While we were there we came across this beautiful patch of gayfeather that is just starting to bloom on the back-side of a dry pond bed. It was beautiful!

Today I'm joining Sandra and all the other lovely ladies for Happy Homemaker Monday over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. Let's get started, shall we?

Today I'm joining Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom and
all of the wonderful ladies of
Happy Homemaker Monday!
Right now I am...

Doing a load of laundry, eating breakfast, enjoying a cup of tea, and working on this post.

Am thinking...

About the week ahead, my to-do list, menu plans, etc.

On the breakfast plate...

Trim Healthy Mama Sweatpants Oatmeal with blueberries and a cup of Twining's Irish Breakfast Tea

The weather...

Hot and sunny...but not quite as hot as it has been. At the moment (not quite 8:00 a.m.) it's 75 degrees. The high today is supposed to be 91 and there is a slight chance of random pop-up thunderstorms in the afternoon, but it's doubtful that we'll get anything substantial.

Here's how dry it is..

This is the dry pond that we came upon at the park.
It's so dry that most of it is practically powder.
There were all kinds of animal tracks in the dust.
We had never walked in a dry pond bed before, so that was kind of cool...BUT...we need rain desperately!

On my reading pile...
Life in the Spirit Study BibleThe Busy Woman's Guide to Healthy Eating
by Emily Barnes and Sue Gregg, Built to Last by Kenneth W. Hagin, and
Discover Nature at Sundown by Elizabeth P. Lawlor

I finished Built to Last-How to Build Strong and Lasting Relationships With God, Family, and Friends by Kenneth W. Hagin. That was the last book in the unit that I am currently on in Rhema.

In addition to daily scripture reading, I am still reading The Busy Woman's Guide to Healthy Eating by Emily Barnes and Sue Gregg. and Discover Nature at Sundown by Elizabeth P. Lawlor.

On the menu this week...

Monday - Audrey's birthday supper at daughter and son-in-law's
Tuesday - bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches (was blessed with fresh tomatoes by one of the families in our church this week, so thought this would be a great way to use them...yum!)
Wednesday - meatballs and sauce over sauteed, freshly-picked-from-our-own-garden zucchini served with homemade sourdough bread
Thursday - black bean and cheese tostadas
Friday - broiled salmon, baked potato with cottage cheese, and steamed broccoli
Saturday - homemade pizza (freezer)
Sunday - leftovers

On my 'to do' list...

- Monday - Plan the week ahead, do my weekly "home blessing", do laundry, celebrate granddaughter, Audrey's, 13th birthday
- Tuesday - Attend Project Learning Tree @ Prairie State Park
- Wednesday - Take car in for an oil change
- Thursday - Get together with my BFFF
- Friday - Work (Explorer Day Camp)
- Saturday - Work
- Sunday - Church; work in the afternoon

In the craft basket...

Nothing at the moment.

Looking forward to this week...

Celebrating Audrey's birthday, attending Project Learning Tree, getting together with my BFFF, and hosting day camp. This year's theme is owls and the program title is 'Who Gives A Hoot?'. 🦉

Something interesting I watched...

As the sun set at Prairie last night, three bulls grazed contentedly in the forefront as the last splashes of color played on the western horizon. Nightfall was making its way across the prairie landscape as the first stars appeared in the heavens. What a beautiful evening it was! 💗
From the camera...

A Monarch Butterfly on Gayfeather
Scripture passage...

Well, Ladies, that's it for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have a blessed and beautiful week ahead! And I'll see you next week! Have a Happy First Day of Summer! 💗

Until Next Time...
~Rebecca

  1. WONDERFUL pictures! Seems everyone is needing the rain except those that are actually getting it - so sad. Praying for those in Japan and Thailand especially. Beautiful inspiration too. Have a GREAT week.
