Happy Homemaker Monday - January 8, 2018

Today I'm joining Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom
and all the sweet ladies of
Happy Homemaking Monday!
Good Morning, Sweet Ladies! Happy Monday! 💗

I pray that this post finds you healthy, happy, and serving the Lord with gladness! How is everyone?

I'm doing well here. I jumped in with both feet a week ago determined to make progress in multiple areas and, while I've not accomplished everything that I would like to have in some areas, progress has, indeed, been made and I am thankful!

For one thing, I started walking again. I used to walk several miles a week, but since losing my dad in May of 2016 I've kind of pulled back and not done too much of anything that would be good for me and it's catching up with me. No more! After diligently seeking the Lord's will for my life in all of this, my goal-setting this year includes doing specific things that, if followed, will lead to fitness in every area...physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial...and baby steps count. I feel better already just getting a plan in place and knowing that, with the Lord's help, I'm getting things turned around and headed in a different direction. I can't wait to see what wonderful things are in store for 2018!

Well...let's get started, shall we?

Right now I am...

Finishing breakfast and enjoying a cup of hot tea while I finish this post.

On the breakfast plate...

Cottage cheese on sprouted toast and plain, black tea

The weather...

Right now it's 34 degrees and hazy, but the sun is breaking through the fog and we're supposed to get up to a high of 44 this afternoon. 52 tomorrow; SIXTY-TWO on Wednesday! Woo-hoo! We will certainly enjoy that!

On my reading pile...

A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George
Tongues: Beyond The Upper Room by Kenneth E. Hagin
Life in the Spirit Study Bible - King James Version

I finally finished Greater Health God's Way by Stormie Omarian this past week, but am still working on A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George, as well as Tongues: Beyond The Upper Room by Kenneth E. Hagin. I am determined to finish both of these books before moving on to the next book and study on my list.

Additionally at this time, although I'm done reading the book and viewing the DVD's and listening to the CD's that came with it, I'm going back through Your 10-Day Spiritual Action Plan for Overcoming Stress, Anxiety, & Depression by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, and am writing out all the scriptures that really ministered to me in this area. I will use those for memorization and to paste up in areas where I will see them and speak them out loud.

As for reading-through-the-Bible-in-a-year, I've decided to go ahead and keep at it again this year, in addition to the other things that I am (and will be) studying. The truth is, it only takes a few extra minutes to do and the value of taking in the scriptures is immeasurable. The key is to not allow the reading-through be all there is. Daily study of the holy scriptures, as well as quality time before the Lord are mandatory if spiritual growth is to take place.

On the menu this week...

So far we've managed to stay on track with our Dollar S-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g, Cabinet-Clearing, Clean-Up-The-Food Project For January 2018. 1. Glad you're going to get some good walking weather! I'm excited to get out a bit again as well. Realized my eat out of the pantry/freezer menus would need to be a bit more side-dish based once I cleaned out the downstairs freezer, guess I did a bit better than I thought last year (minus the SIX boxes of expired, they were THAT old, Popsicle boxes and some taco soup from *cringe* 3-4 years ago). Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

    1. Thanks, Jean! In addition to walking outside when I can, or hiking trails at the park, I do a lot of inside walking with Leslie Sansone. Have you heard of her? If not, check her out! Yes, that's kind of how it turned out here. Had a few meat items on hand, but not enough to do a month of meals. Oh, my! I've had stuff like that in my freezer, too, but not lately. We cleaned the freezer out a little over a year ago when we moved. Then, we did the food clean up in July. So, I've actually able to stay on top of it for, what? Close to a year and a half now? Woo-hoo! These food challenges really help though, don't they? They force us to look in places that we normally wouldn't dream of! LOL! Have a blessed rest of the week, my friend! <3

  4. Your plan for the year sounds great! I am trying to do the same. Are you a FLYbaby? I've been one off and on for years. Have a blessed week!

    1. Thanks, Sherry! Like you I've been a FLYbaby off and on for years, but, at the moment, I'm not. I do well with all the e-mails for a while, then start getting overwhelmed and silence them. I've learned a lot from Flylady though and really enjoy her method of getting everything back on track and in order. Have a great rest of the week! Blessings! <3

  5. Good for you to get back to your walking! I used to walk religiously and then I stopped!! I, too, sort of let myself go since my own mom died almost three years ago. I am feeling renewed all of a sudden and hope to get back to looking after my own personal health this year!

    1. Thanks, Little Penpen! Believe me, I understand! BUT...it's a new year and today is a NEW DAY! It's time for us to take the bull by the horns and take control of our flesh! No one else can do it for us! If you want an accountability partner where the walking is concerned, feel free to e-mail me and we'll get it figured out! Have a blessed rest of the week and get to walking! <3
