Happy Homemaking Monday - November 6, 2017

Happy Homemaking Monday!

Good Morning, Dear Ladies! Happy First Monday of November!

How has your week been? I've had a good week here.

On Monday, while shopping in Carthage, I dropped in to visit my friend, Laura, of Harvest Lane Cottage. Surgery is behind her now, as is the reconstruction, and the pathology report says that there is no sign of cancer. Praise the Lord! As the Lord leads, please continue to remember Laura in your prayers and rejoice with her as she continues to move forward in grace and victory! Hallelujah!

I didn't get as far as I had hoped to with the fall cleaning last week, but I did manage to get the bedroom, bathroom, and hallway done. I hope to get to, at least, the livingroom and kitchen this week, and maybe even the Van Gogh room. We'll see!

For those of you who don't know what the Van Gogh room is...well...technically it's my office...or it will be if I ever get everything moved into it...but it's also the room where all my Van Gogh prints are hanging. We painted the room sunflower yellow and I found Van Gogh shower curtains to drape and use as curtains for the windows. It's a warm and sunny room that makes me extremely happy!

Yesterday was quiet. Church in the morning, company for lunch, and more company in the afternoon. After that John and I enjoyed a quiet evening at home. We were thinking of going camping, but, with the cool and drizzly weather, we decided not to.

I guess that's enough chitchat. Let's get on with it...shall we?

The weather...

It was supposed to get up into the upper 70's over the weekend, but it never made it. It's been cool, cloudy, foggy, and drizzly for days now and it looks like that's going to be the trend for a few more. Right now it's overcast and 41 degrees, but, according to the weather man, it feels like it's 33. There's a chance of rain this afternoon.

Right now I am...

Working on this post, finishing up my breakfast (toast and cottage cheese), enjoying a cup of hot tea, and have started the laundry.

On my reading pile...

I'm progressing through both books, but am still in the same two as last week.

How You Can Be Led by the Spirit of God
by Kenneth E. Hagin
A Woman After God's Own Heart
by Elizabeth George

On the menu this week...

- Monday - Crispy Salmon Siesta, sauteed zucchini
- Tuesday - spaghetti squash with sauce and meatballs
- Wednesday - on the road (probably Subway)
- Thursday - baked chicken, mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli
- Friday - vegetable beef soup and grilled cheese sandwich

- Saturday - taco soup
- Sunday - leftovers

On my to do list....

- Monday - Plan week, make lists, weekly "home blessing", laundry, bedding, deep clean kitchen
- Tuesday - Have fluids and tires on car checked, deep clean livingroom and Van Gogh room, wash curtains

- Wednesday - Go home to visit my old haunts with a friend
- Thursday - Make a run to the Amish store to stock up on dry goods and winter spices, go to the grocery store
- Friday - Work
- Saturday - Work
- Sunday - Church

In the craft basket...

Nothing at the moment. Decided to just do wild turkey coloring sheets for the upcoming Terrific Turkeys preschool program and make turkey calls out of recycled kitchen trash as the craft for the homeschool program.

Looking forward to this week...

Fall cleaning and moving one step closer to getting ready for the holidays. I cannot WAIT to decorate for Christmas! 🎄

Celebrating National Bison Day at Prairie State Park

Saturday, November 4th was National Bison Day and it was a huge hit at Prairie State Park! Last year we had a total of 129 people for the day; this year we had 111 for the bison hike and 302 for the event. There was the hike at 10:00, come-and-go activities for the children, and fun for the whole family. We served bison chili from 10 to 3. Below is the link to a piece that the Springfield news filmed on Wednesday when they interviewed one of my bosses. They really did a good job with it!

Scripture Passage...

Well, Ladies, that's it for this week. I pray that each and every one of you have a wonderful week ahead and that the Lord's blessings in your life are many.

Until next time...
~Rebecca

    1. Thanks, Pamela! I bought two shower curtains that are of one of his sunflower paintings. I folded them in quarters and just draped them over the curtain rod. It works. I also bought a Starry, Starry Night shower curtain and eventually plan on using it as a closet covering. I will post pics of all of this in a future post. Have a blessed week ahead! <3
