Happy Homemaker Monday - July 31, 2017

Good morning, Dear Ladies!

It is hard to believe that it's Monday again already. This past week has just flown by and I'm still reeling from it. It's great to be joining the crew at Happy Homemaker Monday again this week. I'm really enjoying meeting and being linked to this lovely group of women.

The weather.....

... Hot and sunny, but not nearly as hot as it has been. Daytime temps are supposed to be in the mid-80's to lower-90's all week; nighttime temps promise to stay in the mid- to upper-60's. In fact, we turned the air off last night and opened the windows. It felt good to air the house out overnight. This weather is certainly much better than the 100+ degree temps with high humidity that we've been dealing with, but I'm still greatly looking forward to fall! 🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁

Right now I am....

... Enjoying a cup of tea and the cool morning air as I write this post. I'm also enjoying listening to the cicadas sing. A lot of people don't like them, but I do. 🐛

Thinking...

... About how nice and relaxing the weekend was.
I worked Saturday, but it was a very casual and fun day. People came specifically to play nature bingo at both the morning and afternoon sessions and those that came were interested, excited, and engaged. It was awesome! I was off Sunday afternoon and totally enjoyed my day! After church I got the housework and laundry done, then family showed up and we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening playing cards and visiting. It felt really odd because usually there is somewhere I have to be or something that I have to be doing. Not having to go anywhere or having anything in particular that needed to be done was a real treat!

On my reading pile....
A Commonsense Guide to Fasting by Kenneth E. Hagin
The People of the River's Mouth by Michael Dickey
To Know Him by Gloria Copeland
Trim Healthy Mama Plan by Pearl Barrett & Serene Allison

Favorite blog post last week (mine or other)....

- This Aldi shopping list from Darci over at Darci's Dishes. What a great resource when shopping specifically for THM approved foods!

Something fun to share...

-The new-to-me red teapot that was sent to me by my friend, Beverly, in Texas this week. Isn't it lovely?

Blog hopping (newly discovered blog)...

- I ran across this blog this week by fellow mid-westerner, Jean: So Not Organized

I was quite excited when I went over there just now to discover that Jean's latest post  was on one of my favorite places back home (I was born and raised in the Kansas City metro area)...the Kansas City Zoo! Cool-o! I am really looking forward to reading more of Jean's posts when I have time.

On the menu for this week....

Today is the last day of July and the last day of our "Dollar-S-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g, Cabinet-Clearing, Clean-Up-The-Food Project" which is really good, because we are out of all the stuff we were trying to clean up and there are no more leftovers. I officially start Trim Healthy Mama this week! 😁

Even though I have a complete, one-week menu plan made up (breakfast, lunch, and supper), I am only sharing my supper menus here. If anyone is interested in viewing the complete week's-worth of meals, just let me know and when I have time I will type it up and share. It's my first time for making up a week's-worth of THM menus, so I'm hoping that I did it right. 😊

- Monday - supper at our daughter and son-in-law's
- Tuesday - supper on the road - I have to work a health and wellness fair with my job, so I will be on the road. I'll opt for something that is THM friendly, or is at least low-cal and healthy...Subway, maybe?
- Wednesday - Chicken Parmy (S) pg 161 THM Cookbook over Troodles pg 222 THM Cookbook
- Thursday - Zucchini Canoes (S) pg 139 THM Cookbook
- Friday - Fantastic Meatloaf (S) pg 316 Original THM served with Simple Steamed Broccoli pg 354 Original THM
- Saturday - Grilled Salmon (E) pg 284 Original THM, Baked Sweet Potato (E), and Creamless Creamy Vegetables pg 352 Original THM
- Sunday - leftovers

On my to do list....

My weekly "home blessing" (actually, I got a jump ahead and did most of it yesterday afternoon...including laundry and bedding - woo hoo!)
- Go to the bank.
- Go to the post office.
- Do as much prep work ahead as possible for this week's menu plans (cut vegetables, cook meats and divide, etc.)
- Celebrate family milestones - two granddaughters celebrate their 2nd birthday this week and our youngest son turns 22; our oldest daughter and her husband will be celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary.

In the craft basket...

- Does building a worm farm count? 😲

Looking forward to this week...

- Changing the calendar from July to August, celebrating birthdays, working the health and wellness fair at Adrian (I will be focusing on camping safety, dealing with ticks and mosquitoes, and eclipse safety), finalizing my "Wiggling Worms" program plans at work.

Looking around the house...

- It felt good to get up to a clean house this morning, knowing that the bulk of my housework and laundry was done for another week.

-From the camera...

- On my prayer list.....

- It seems that every family we know has a struggle of some sort going on. This morning I plead the blood of Jesus over each and every one of our family members...individually and collectively as a whole...over our children, their spouses, our grandchildren, over John and I, over our extended family (aunts and cousins), over our church family, over our dear friends, and over all those within our sphere of influence. I pray health, healing, safety, protection, godly wisdom, and  direction over all...in Jesus' name.
- Peace in Jerusalem.
- Protection over the unborn.
- That a hunger and thirst for Biblical truth, godly wisdom, righteousness, and true holiness would permeate our society at every level.

Bible verse, Devotional....

"And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee" (Isaiah 54:13 and 14).

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord" (Isaiah 54:17)

Well, Ladies, that's if for this week! I pray that each and every one of you have a blessed week ahead.
Until next time...
~Rebecca

  2. Thanks for mentioning my blog! Always nice to come across a fellow mid-westerner in the blogging world. Creating a worm farm might actually be a craft I could manage (or not...would I have to actually touch the worms? LOL!). We like to eat Subway if we are traveling. Hope you have a great week!
