Five Minute Friday - Quiet

It's time for another Five Minute Friday - a free write, which means, as our hostess, Kate Motaung, says, "...no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation. Just write."

This week's prompt is QUIET.

Go!

January certainly did not start off as planned (you can read more about how the month started off here if you wish) and, as a result, the entire month has been a whirlwind of activity as we have divided our time between caring for my dad (daily care, meals, doctor appointments, etc.) and spending as much time as possible with our daughter and son-in-law in Kansas City (most visits have been made to the hospital, but our last visit, which was just this week, was the first since Phillip's release). In addition to that I have tried to keep up with my part-time job at Prairie State Park and home life as well. Needless to say, there have been many stressful days and not a lot of down time.

Thursday evening turned out to be unusally quiet so I spent the evening deliberately quieting my heart, praying, and thinking through the many notes I've made over the past few weeks concerning the areas that I need to focus on in the coming days, weeks, and months. I am thankful for the quiet as I plan and prepare my Plan A, yet, I stand ready, willing, and able to yield myself wholly to whatever Plan B the Lord sees fit to bring, or allow into, my life.

Stop!

Have a blessed weekend!

All My Love,
~Rebecca

Five Minute Friday - 4

  1. Hi Rebecca, thanks for stopping by earlier. Well my time difference would prevent me from getting the prompt and leaving little time to write, post at the same time. So I link up past posts anyway and visit other FMF writers. Thanks for sharing your heart here.
Sometimes quiet is good. I have been in that mode for close to a month trying to settle down in my new environment. Well hoping to get into full swing sooner.
    Blessings to you

  2. Since I don't have a blog yet I thought I would do five minute Friday under the comments.

Okay....I’ve never done this before. Words come easily into my head, but putting them down has never been that easy for me. So, here we go. Quiet...when I hear that word I think of what my spirit longs for and more than that NEEDS. Somewhere in the Psalms it says, “be still and know that I am God”... to truly seek God and hear him requires a quiet spirit. Not always listening to voices that want to bring us harm, or less sinister voices that just want to provide us information, or just the daily voices that come at us in every form. Even in Christian circles we hear voices, but how many times do we seek Gods voice in the quietness. That has been one of my resolutions this year is to try to take every decision before God. It takes purposeful thought and then quiet time with the Lord. I saw a quote yesterday from Spurgeon, it said “anxiety will not empty tomorrow of its trials, only today of its strength...” (or something like that) anyway, when we, (myself) has a troubled spirit opposed to a quiet spirit we will find ourselves in turmoil about everything and can never really accomplish anything in the day for the Lord. So, whether our home is literally quiet or not, we need a quiet spirit within. And that peace will work its way out.

    1. Thank you for taking the time to post your Five Minute Friday post here in my comments section. Your post ministered deeply to me. It reminded me of what I need and where it needs to come from and every word rang true. You should start a blog soon. You have something to say that many others need to hear. Thank you! And God bless! <3
