Thanksgiving - Day Fifteen
Today I am thankful for the five senses...to see, to hear, to smell, to taste, and to touch.
Some of my favorite things to see are the people that I love most and their smiling faces, a good movie, a full moon, God's creation in all it's glory, and His Word held in my hands. These are some of my favorite things to see.
To hear? The familiar voices of those I love, the giggles and the "I love you, Nana!"s whispered by the grandlittles...the sound of the train as it rumbles through town late at night, the call of a loon on a Minnesota lake, crickets chirping, the drone of the cicada of in summer...these are the sounds I love most.
To smell? Fresh lilacs in the spring, the warm, woodsy smell of autumn, pretty perfumes, and garlic sauteing in olive oil. These are the things I most love to smell.
To taste? Any meal lovingly prepared and shared with loved ones, the sweet taste of a Dove dark chocolate square shared with a special friend over afternoon tea, and lunch at McAlister's in Joplin. These are the special treats that I love most to taste.
And, finally, to touch? People mostly...the soft skin of a newborn baby, a hug from one of my children or a friend, my husband's warm body at night...but I also like texture in nature...the silky soft petal of a spring flower, the hard, rough bark of an oak tree, the feel of water lapping my toes at the edge of a Minnesota lake. These are the touches that I treasure most!
This was a lovely post.
