Five Minute Friday - UNEXPECTED

Once again it it's 'Five Minute Friday' where as, our hostess, and inspiration, The Gypsy Mama, puts it, we write "For only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not."

Want to join us? Then be sure and visit The Gypsy Mama today!

Now...for today's assignment...

Go!

Unexpected!

The very word can bring about a tingling sense of excitement! Or it can bring about an overwhelming feeling of dread!

Have you ever had an unexpected surprise? A unexpected good report from the doctor when you were expecting a bad one? An unexpected amount of cash handed to you in time of need? An unexpected visit from an old friend? The kind of friend that brings great joy to your spirit when you hear the familiar sound of her voice on the other end of the phone or see her smiling face as she stands unexpectedly on the other side of your door?

Or...what about the other kind of unexpected? The call that carried bad news with it...an unexpected loss of money or property? Or the death of a close friend or family member?

Throughout life we are faced with the 'unexpected' at every turn. And, if we focus on that 'unexpected' too much, we can become paralyzed and useless to those around us and to the One that created us.

You see, with God, nothing that comes our way is 'unexpected'! In fact, in Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

God knows everything about us. He knows what's happening with us at any given moment, and He cares for us! When the good 'unexpected' comes our way, He is there...smiling...participating in our joy. And, likewise, when the bad 'unexpected' happens in our lives, He is there...touching us...consoling us...lifting us up...and taking care of us...even...when...we...don't...feel...it.

When the 'unexpected' happens in your life...take it to God...because He cares about you!

Stop!

  4. Hey, Gayla! Thanks for taking the time to drop in for a visit and for leaving a comment! It's good to see you! I love fall, too, and, yes, the trees have been beautiful this year...which surprises me with as dry a summer as we had...and the prairie is beautiful, too. I remember when we first came here I had always thought that the prairie would be drab in the fall...you know...just brown, but it's not! The blazing bronze, brassy gold, and fiery red hues of the prairie grasses are just breathtaking, and, then, to that, add the purples, blues, and yellows of the prairie flowers that grow there, and oh my! It's all just so beautiful! I love it! Thanks, again, for dropping in! TTYL! <3
